Something seemed to have shifted when the clock struck midnight and the world flipped into 2024. All of a sudden, long-standing beauty trends disappeared from the spotlight, only to be replaced by a completely new group.
Megan Fox’s Valentine’s Day nails provide ample indication that the winds of change have arrived. Brittney Boyce, Fox’s go-to celebrity nail artist, shared an early preview of the look on Instagram, with close-up videos ideal for capturing the details of the sweet set. Of course, the most striking feature is the 3D, opalescent hearts set in the center of each glossy, nude-polished nail. However, the length and contour of the new manicure are what stand out the most. Megan Fox’s nails are filed into soft, natural-looking ovals, with the tips merely poking out approximately a half-inch above her tattooed fingertips.
Long-time Megan Fox fans will recognize that the more relaxed shape and style is a stark contrast to the manicures she wore during the 2020s. Fox, who was always walking that edgy-elegant tightrope, seems to (previously) prefer extra-long lengths with sharp stiletto tips or squared off ends.
We rarely see Megan Fox without noticeably long nails. Aside from appearing glam, it allows her go-to nail artist Brittney Boyce to work her creative magic even more freely. And, while her color palette ranges from lovely pastels to strong, black tones, a natural-looking finish appears to be off the menu. Over the weekend, Fox and Boyce decided to try something new with her nails.
Boyce shared a close-up of her latest Megan Fox manicure masterpiece, revealing something unexpected: rather short nails painted with what looks to be a clear or very sheer pink-beige lacquer.
“This is the shortest set of nails that we’ve ever done, and I’m totally obsessed,” Boyce told Allure. “We have been doing extremely long nails for years now so we wanted to change it up.”
Fox’s fondness of three-dimensional nail decorations, on the other hand, has been consistent. Although the nails are very delicate, the iridescent bubble heart charms add a whimsical touch. Boyce used the Daily Charme 30-pack, which is only $5, making it a simple and inexpensive method to dress up bare nails.
This is as near to a natural look as the fashionable star can get, and it’s also exactly on trend. Celebrities and citizens alike began to gravitate toward shorter nails in the second half of 2023, with some on TikTok going so far as to label long, almond-shaped nails as “millennial” — that’s social media teen language meaning out of style. Many experts argue that longer nails will never go out of style, but if Fox’s always-excellent beauty looks are any indication of what the masses truly want, they are.
