New Battlefield 2042 Game To Launch in 2025 or later.
During their Q3 2024 financial report conference call, which was held recently, EA provided information about the company’s future ambitions as well as an update on the performance of its intellectual property. A new Battlefield game is one of EA’s most eagerly awaited releases.
Since EA’s current attempt was met with huge criticism at launch, many fans are expecting for either a remake of a classic title like Battlefield 3 or a new game with less of an emphasis on being a live service. But the company has bounced back, and in the last few months, Battlefield 2042 has experienced record engagement.
Stuart Canfield, the executive vice president and chief financial officer of Electronic Arts, revealed some information on the earnings call about the company’s plans for its non-sports titles in the upcoming years. It appears that we may have to wait a while for a new Battlefield game.
Battlefield 2042 , Mass Effect, and Star Wars are just a few of the “iconic new releases” that EA is searching for in FY25 and beyond, according to Stuart Canfield.
The CEO of EA, Andrew Wilson, made a suggestion that a new Battlefield game would be released soon when he said that developers are aiming to create a huge universe for players. It’s unlikely that we will see another Battlefield game before Fall 2025, or even 2026.
“We’re making investments in the future of the franchise. Our exceptional teams from multiple world-class studios working with cutting-edge frostbite technology are building an expansive, community-focused Battlefield universe for fans,” stated Wilson.
In November 2023, a new teaser for an upcoming Mass Effect game surfaced; it appears that the game may not launch until as late as 2029. Similarly, future Star Wars games, such as Respawn Entertainment’s new first-person shooter and the third Jedi Survivor game, appear to be years away.
Fans may, however, be able to start playing a new game much sooner, though not this year. As of right now, EA is totally committed to Battlefield 2042, which will launch in March 2024 for its seventh season. During the results call, EA CEO Andrew Wilson stated that,
“Our team is working hard to deliver for the community with increasingly engaging live services like the recent announcement of season 7, with new maps, weekly missions and much more”
The description for the VFX Director position suggests that multiple studios are working towards creating an expansive universe for the game’s fans, although EA is currently putting a lot of effort into Battlefield 2042. Additionally, we reported that the next game in the series aims to have “the most realistic and exciting destruction effects in the industry.”
Since the games usually come out in the fall, it’s possible that we won’t see another one until the fall of 2025 or possibly 2026. Apart from the aforementioned titles, EA is developing a plethora of new games, such as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, Skate, two Marvel games that are not yet named, one of which is centered around Black Panther, a new Sims game, and the first-ever return of EA College Football since 2013.
