Due to the possibility of salmonella contamination, Quaker Canada is voluntarily recalling 38 varieties of granola bars and Harvest Crunch cereals.

The recall was begun Thursday in the United States by the Quaker Oats Company, according to the company.

“This action is being taken in Canada out of an abundance of caution and commitment to the wellbeing of our Canadian consumers,” Quaker Canada stated in a statement.

Consumers are advised to check their cupboards for any of the products listed here and discard them. Quaker Canada advised consumers not to consume the recalled items.

The company stated that it is collaborating with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency to guarantee that the recalled products are removed from the market.

Children, pregnant women, and the elderly are the most vulnerable.

In a second statement, the Canadian government stated that while salmonella-contaminated food may not appear or smell rotten, it can still make you sick.

“Young children, pregnant women, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections,” the authorities warned in a recall notice.

“In healthy people, short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea may occur.” Severe arthritis could be the long-term result.”The parent business in the United States, Quaker Oats, which is owned by PepsiCo, initially announced a product recall on December 15, 2023. The recall was expanded on Thursday, according to the US Food and Drug Administration’s website.
